Primary Objective
(Position/Purpose)
The role of the Manager for Local Economic Development is to successfully contribute towards gaining and maintaining company's Social License to Operate through the facilitation of mine and non-mine related economic, regional, and social development opportunities throughout the Project Impact Area.
Major Responsibility Areas
(including positions reporting to this role)
• Management of benefits, community investment and sponsorship programs, from scoping opportunities through to execution.
• Repco / Lanco SME development and facilitation to support identified projectopportunities
• Development of non-mine related agribusiness partnerships
• Development of partnerships for regional and social development initiatives
• Assessment of economic, regional and social development projects for their strategic fit and feasibility to inform WGJV’s ranking and support for such projects.
• Identification of preferential local suppliers and service providers in Morobe for contracting opportunities to support the Project
• Coordination with Government for service delivery.
• Secretariat to the proposed Development Foundation
• Strict implementation of key business principles (equal opportunity, transparency, equity,ABC rules)

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

• (Essential) Entrepreneurial skills and / or training.
• (Essential) At least five years commercial experience within PNG (preferably) or other developing nations.
• (Essential) Knowledge of PNG banking, taxation and statutory requirements.
• (Essential) Internationally recognised degree in accounting, commerce or economics
• (Essential) At least five years regional and social development experience with a donor organization or NGO
• (Essential) Demonstrated commitment to key business principles (equal opportunity, transparency, equity, ABC rules)
