Business Development Manager must have knowledge of Industrial Process Control equipment, application of Control, Relief and Isolation Valves and required maintenance needs. He must have knowledge of local industry and local requirements.

Objective

To develop and grow business, customer relations and promote the company’s products and services in the PNG Market.

Activities
- Consolidate the company’s position with existing customers in PNG.
- With assistance of Head office based personnel manage existing customer agreements and ensure we meet the objectives of those agreements.
- Develop new customers for equipment supply and service.
- Promote all brands of equipment we represent.
- Promote our integration capabilities. Valves and Instrumentation
- Promote localised speciality service for Control Valves, Relief Valves and automated On-Off Valves.
- Promote Installed Base Services program and benefits we can bring to the shutdown planning process.
- Develop a documented understanding of the market in particular: 
o Shut down plans
o Project activity
o Exploration activity to enable understanding of potential business targets
- Understand and catalogue local competitors; capabilities, products, resources, locations
- To directly engage clients on proposals that are generated by either PNG or Head office
- To provide regular reports on proposals, sales calls and changes in the market
- To generate the annual strategic plan and provide quarterly updates against the plan
- Assist the General Manager to develop Annual budgets and report quotation status and order forecast on a monthly basis.

A minimum of an appropriate Trade Certificate and experience in the mining industry
Desire to learn computer literacy skills including operational efficiency in the Microsoft Suite, and industrial based programs such as Ellipse, SAP or similar programmes.
Experience in heavy equipment maintenance and in particular 992G/K & 966 Loaders, D10T / D11T Dozer, 320/330Excavators & 16H Graders.

Qualifications

  • An appropriate trade qualification in Heavy Equipment Maintenance

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years Heavy Equipment experience in a mining maintenance environment. 
  • Experience in Heavy Equipment maintenance of loader, dozer operation is essential.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills together with an aptitude to solve technical difficulties.
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Able to qualify for PNG class 7 licenses.

Role dimensions:

  • To carry out electrical breakdown and preventative maintenance repairs on a wide range of mobile equipment in accordance with Company’s safe working policies and procedures and in compliance with manufacturers specifications.
  • To meet the training needs of the PNG national tradesmen and apprentices
  • To conduct on the job training for apprentices
  • To ensure that all activities meet the Company’s business needs and consistently high standards of occupational health, safety and environment by:-
  • Ensuring compliance with safety best practice in line with Newcrest’s Safety Systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with NML’s Environmental Policies and Procedures.

Technical accountabilities:

  • Carry out electrical diagnosis and repairs on mobile mining equipment such as O&K RH200 Shovels, Caterpillar Truck fleet, Tamrock Drills, Dozers, Graders, and support equipment
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs on automotive air conditioning systems.
  • Foster the development of apprentices and assistants to improve their performance and safety awareness.
  • Encourage all personnel in section to comply with all Compnay's policies and procedures

Person specification

Essential

  • Auto Electrical trade qualification.
  • 3yrs post trade experience
  • Possess good technical, analytical and problem-solving skills associated with complex auto electrical systems.
  • Must be a self starter with sound planning and time management skills.
  • Physically and mentally fit.
  • Well developed communication skills in English.
  • Must have a good understanding of safety in the workplace

Desirable

  • Experience on Caterpillar equipment, specifically mining equipment.
  • O&K Face Shovels and Driltech Open Cut drilling machines
  • Experienced in computer aided diagnostics, eg. Cat Electronic Technician, VIMS etc.
  • Cert II in Automotive Air Conditioning
  • 3 years post apprenticeship work experience in a mining environment.
  • Sound computer literacy skills.
