  • To improve the metallurgical performance of the Process Plant while maintaining a safety behaviour and cost commitment consistent with Company values. 
  • Provide operational guidance and technical support to the Operations team to achieve approved budget targets.
  • The role is responsible for supervising a team of Plant Metallurgists and recommending and implementing improvement initiatives to maximise gold production.  This role focuses on crushing, grinding, flotation, pressure oxidation, CCDs, CIL and elution.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and training for the professional development of plant metallurgists.
  • Partake in on-call roster.
  • This role reports to the Metallurgical Coordinator and liaises closely with Process Operations Supervision and Plant Metallurgist to ensure production KPI’s are achieved.
  • Addresses metallurgical issues and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Develops detailed understanding of the process flow sheets within the process plant operations. 
  • Provide operational guidance and technical expertise on metallurgical performance of the Process Plant by monitoring process plant performance and liaising with maintenance, mining and operations about technical consequences and forecasts. 
  • Ensure scopes are in line with production requirements when carrying out Laboratory or on the field tests. 
  • Initiate and implement projects focusing on production and reliability within the process plant by planning and monitoring project timeframes and budgets. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in plant operation and cost reduction in conjunction with Operations, Maintenance and Technical personnel. 
  • Becomes fully competent in the metallurgical data management systems and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety, environment and other policies and procedures by conducting regular monitoring activities and conducting investigation of major safety incidents or major production interruptions
  • Liaises with and manages external service providers so as to schedule work within an appropriate time frame and without over committing laboratory personnel and resources
  • Maintain excellent communications with fixed plant maintenance personnel to ensure maintenance issues are understood and communicated 
  • To supervise, direct and foster the development of a small team of metallurgists by allocating work and projects and reviewing progress.  
  • Encourage and facilitate the autonomy of the team to reach full potential as contributing metallurgists.
  • Building and developing an effective, skilled team by assisting lesser experienced Metallurgist through strong communication and leadership including behaviour consistent with Company values. 
  • Actively promoting and demonstrating proactive safety behaviours.
  • Training of team members to assure competence in operating procedures, safety systems and environmental requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance to procedures and processes at all times is maintained.
